Well, I’d seen Keith’s animation of the new AIR Logo, then read Mario’s challenge to make it “interactive”. So of course, Keith turns around and says “BAM! now what bitch?!” and puts an interactive version out there. See, if you’ve read his email blunder post, he was trying to send me a vector version of the logo – and mistakenly sent the reply and FLA to a recruiter – HILARIOUS! What makes it even more funny is that I actually ended up ditching his and creating my own
Man talk about all for not!
So I created a vector version of the logo in Flash IDE, exported as illustrator 6 file and imported into 3D Studio Max. Then extruded and applied a red shaded texture to it. Bingo, 3D AIR logo. So my idea was to make it interactive and 3D. But then I started playing around with the new fire effects that Andy adapted from Grant’s fire classes and well, HEHE – it’s the new AIR logo, animated, interactive (just for you Mario), in 3D…and on fire.
[ click and drag left/right to rotate logos, up/down to pitch the scene ]
btw – these new effects for Papervision are going to absolutely ROCK \m/ – Andy’s got all the blend mode / layer blah blah blah going on in there. There’s nothing you can’t accomplish with it – it’s outrageous!

This is so awesome it’s beyond words. What’s next? What else can someone mash into this?
November 22, 2007 at 6:05 am
@Chris: LOL, I’ll be sure to send it to the next recruiter with best wishes from Keith

so did you export 3d bitmaps or vectors from 3ds max?
November 22, 2007 at 8:45 am
thats hot… really hot. Makes me think Adobe AIR is from hell. I really like how you can rotate the logos with the fire on, reminds me of GhostRider’s tires.

@Bill: I exported a collada file from 3D Studio Max and this is realtime 3D using Papervision3D – no image sequences or vector graphix
November 22, 2007 at 5:45 pm

November 22, 2007 at 7:03 pm
Very impressive. I wonder if the fire be used to roast a Thanksgiving Day turkey …
November 22, 2007 at 8:08 pm
Now make it into a chromeless AIR app? Seems like the obvious next step… If only you could get the fire to distort the background.
November 22, 2007 at 8:11 pm
Once again, further proof that fLASH RULEZ the (internet) World!
