Well, this isn’t finished off, but it’s meant to be a demo of the latest vesion of Papervision3D’s engine and a bit of what’s to come with PaperWorld game engine. I’ve been flying around for a few nights now chasing ties and Xwings and it’s just such a rush to see this happening in Flash like this. And yeah yeah, I know I KNOW – I wanna shoot stuff too – all in good time Controls: Mouse: Steer Click on other ships to fly them around NOTE: KEYSTROKES ARE DISABLED IN FULLSCREEN MODE Tip: GO FULLSCREEN, THEN BACK – you’ll get a performance boost |

Holy crap this is amazing. I can’t wait to see the version where you can shoot and destroy stuff. Then make it multi-player where you can play with other people online. How exciting. Yeah, E-woks would be cool too. And some Star Destroyers.

Between this and Xray, you are a certifiable beast.

hehe, you like that, then check out what we’re doing at Paperworld ( http://www.paperworld3d.com ) – we’re creating a spaced based game where you can create your own star system, ships, engines, weapons and trade/sell with other players.
The idea is to enable flashers the ability to participate at any level of development. Maybe you only do graphics, maybe you do modeling, maybe you can code and create weapons – the idea is that you can get involved in the world and have fun

[...] Some months ago, John Grden published a couple nice demos that really proved that real 3D in Flash was not a dream and what difference AS3 and the new AVM makes. For Grant Skinners recent presentation at FlashForward MacWorld, John put together a demo showing a 3D space battle with X-wings and Tie Fighters flying around in realtime. (He recently updated it so that you can control the X-wing yourself). [...]

[...] So there you have it. Blend modes, vectors, PNGs, videos…all of the components you need to create one horribly slow web site, right? To give her an even better chance of breaking this down, I wrote everything with the Flash 8 player in mind, as its pretty clear that FP9 can handle itself. [...]

[...] I’ve used John Grden’s StarWars ASE meshes for testing – and the size dropped from 333 kb to 54 kb after compression. FAR is still under development, and this is only a preview, so please shout if you have ideas, remarks or bugs to report. [...]
